Doubletake Cafe is owned and operated by twin sisters Lynne Hanrahan and Keran Davis. Opened in April 2003, the café was awarded 'Most Outstanding Cafe' in the Lake Macquarie Business Awards within several months.

Lynne and Keran originally opened Doubletake after deciding that Toronto needed a cafe styled after the city cafes Lynne and her husband, Steve, were accustomed to before moving here from Melbourne. Steve, being something of a coffee connoisseur, was put in charge of researching the coffee to be served and Peaberrys, a local New Lambton company, was chosen.

The flavour of the coffee is rich and strong, with a mocha undertone and no bitter aftertaste. Being a local roasting company, the coffee is always absolutely fresh with the cafe taking delivery of coffee up to twice a week.

They then set about devising a menu which depended largely upon fresh and healthy ingredients, innovative preparation and stylish presentation. While keeping their prices affordable, the twins were determined to prepare as much of the food on the premises as possible, resulting in gaining a reputation for having the best friends, brownies, scones, chutney and soups to be found.

With a strong emphasis on efficient, fast service in a friendly environment with trendy music and daily newspapers provided for their customers, Doubletake has fast built a strong breakfast and lunchtime trade.
